Angel Flight NE Saves Travel Time for Maine Patient to Boston
We hope you’ve been enjoying your summer! We’re extremely thankful that you share our belief that people matter & you’re with us on our journey to make lives easier for those living with sickness.
Easing Travel Stress
Please take a moment out of your busy summer schedule to read about Larry and how our volunteers have made a huge impact on Larry & Rebecca’s life in recent times. Larry was recently diagnosed with a rare Cancer that required him to travel from Castle Hill, Maine to Dana Farber in Boston, MA for specialized treatment including a transplant. The diagnosis was quite stressful but the challenge of getting there added to the burden. Given the distance is nearly 400 miles, it would have taken them more than 6 hours without summer time traffic to travel both ways.
For this reason, a nurse at Northern Light Health recommend that they call us – Angel Flight NE. From the moment of posting the mission to our web-based mission/flight coordination system, many pilots were more than happy to assist! Since Larry’s wife Rebecca first called in late June 2022, we’ve coordinated ten (10) flights with corresponding ground transportation. Larry will need continued support as he travels for ongoing treatment, and we have assured them both that Angel Flight NE will be here to assist them for as long and as often as they need our help.
This is just one example of how our mission with the support of our amazing volunteer pilots, generous grant makers, like Maine Cancer Foundation and corporate partners, along with you, is making a difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We are truly blessed!
Mission/Flight requests – like Larry’s – happen daily and we are privileged to have the opportunity to not only fly but deeply care for all who turn to us for help at difficult times in their lives. We are here for Larry & Rebecca during their healthcare journey for as long and as often as he needs our help and to ensure the best possible outcome. Distance should never be an obstacle for patients and their loved ones to access the medical care they need and deserve.
Thank You and God Bless You for your support and belief in our healing mission.
With your help and belief in our mission, we are able to ensure that distance is never an obstacle for patients, like Larry.
Warmest regards,
Fr. Larry & the AFNE Staff
